One off imports are achieved by either setting up an External Data Source, see above, and just executing it once or by using the public Cimera Data Loader PlugIn.
Often a copy of the production Cimera database will be created for testing and development. In such cases it is sometimes required to develop new configuration (amended metadata) in the test database and then import it into the production one.
Exporting is performed from Cimera Server Utilities Export option. Select the appropriate database, right-click, Export.
note :
it is essential to make the metadata in the production and test identical before any development starts to remove the chance of the importing process having a merge conflict, i.e.
• | refresh test database with production metedata (either the metadata or the whole database) |
• | update test database metadata |
• | copy the test metadata back to production |
Importing All the Data
Exported data can be imported into an initialised database using Cimera Server Utilities
Importing Selective Metadata
Note : take a backup of the Cimera database before doing a selective import. There is no 'undo'.
To import a subset of the metadata:
firstly export the metadata into individual files (as opposed to a single export file). See Export Metadata to Individual Files
these can then be imported from the Process Modeller Import option
Main Menu Admin > Process Modeller and then use the Import button.
