Every Status defined in the Lifecycle for an Item Type has two options that may be independently set:
Is this a workflow state?
When set, items at this status that have an Assignee attribute, will appear in the Assignee's personal My Queue and Group Queues.
Is this a final state?
If so then this item will not be shown in queues and in fact will not appear in any list unless the user has chosen to see these items by unchecking the option Main Menu View > Hide Items in final state
